UV Stabilized or UV Resistant?

UV Stabilized means they have added a stabilizer to the resin to allow it to protect the substance from the long-term degradation from UV light. UV stabilizers work by absorbing or screening out UV radiation and preventing damage. UV Resistant materials by nature resists UV rays and prevent UV degradation.

Nylon 6/6 ties can come in different colors but primarily are either "Natural" or "UV black". Most standard UV black ties will have some resistance to sunlight and outdoor exposure because the carbon black pigment added to the natural color to give the tie it's black color is UV resistant. In most cases there is just enough carbon black pigment added to give the tie its black coloring, less than 0.50%, where you would need about 2-5% added for true UV resistance. Standard UV Nylon 6/6 ties can also absorb moisture and dry out over time in outdoor applications which can make the tie very brittle and ultimately break.
